One-time Relaxation to Validate ITRs

Government of India, Income-tax Department has given one-time opportunity to verify the Income-tax Return filed for the AY 2015-16 to AY 2019-20 but the time limit of 120 days had already expired to verify the same can again to validate the returns on or before 30.09.2020

Those who filed online ITR but failed to validate by way of e-Verfication (EVC) or physical sending of ITR V to CPC Bengalure within 120 days can now either e-Verify or send the Signed ITR V to CPC Bengalure for the AY 2015-16, AY 2016-17, AY 2017-18, AY 2018-19 & AY 2019-20.

This relaxation shall not apply in those cases, where during the intervening period, Income-tax Department has already taken recourse to any other measure as specified in the Act for ensuring filing of tax returns by the tax payer concerned after declaring the return as non-est.

Based on verification of ITRs the said Income-tax returns would be processed by 31.12.2020 and in case of refund arrived in the processing, the period of delay in verification of return by the Assessee shall be excluded. Which means for the said peirod of delay no interest shall be payable.

Those who fails to verify using this one-time relaxation shall be dealt with as per the provisions of the Act.
